In this page we want to mention all transportation methods available in Guatemala for you to consider for your upcoming vacation. The local transportation companies are properly registered in the Tourism Institute of Guatemala (INGUAT), use clean cars and vans and are insured in case of any unforeseen situation. We recommend confirming these arrangements before your arrival to make sure everything goes smooth. One final warning: the waiting queues for Transmetro buses can get very long in the morning and evening. The best way to travel around Guatemala as a tourist is by private transportation. I'm sure you can find a hotel that is both close to the airport and close to a Transmetro station.įor more information about riding the Transmetro and the other "secure" bus system (the blue Transurbano buses), see this blog: On Google maps, the little blue "M" marks the Transmetro stations. You can see a (very unhelpful) map of the Transmetro system here: For a better idea of where the routes go, take a look at Google maps of Guatemala City. One of them goes behind the airport, (far from the airport terminal entrance). There are 3 bus rapid transit lines in Guatemala City in the "Transmetro" system. If you will be visiting Zona 1 during your stay, it would be terribly inconvenient to travel from a place immediately by the airport (such as Dos Lunas) to Zona 1 by public transportation. Are you trying to say that during your visit, you want to travel between your hotel and the downtown area (Zona 1) every day? As the other posters have commented, Aurora Airport is in the City. We might be able to help you more if you can clarify where you will be visiting in Guatemala City.
